Paramore, No Doubt.. Last night was great. But for now, I’m not gonna go much into it.

It’s a sad day.. as most of you who watch CNN probably have heard all over the news. Three bombs exploded, two of which are results of terrorist attack, back in my home country. Again, targeting the innocents, foreigners and hard-working people. Two hotels in the upscale of Jakarta: Ritz-Carlton and J.W. Marriott.

I’ve been snooping around the internet, facebook-ing and twitter-ing to get the latest news.

I am indirectly affected by what happened. One of my good friends, my former roommate when I was still in college, Nicoline Patricia Malina had an exhibition at the Airlangga Restaurant, the exact point where the bomber was standing. I thought about her but was glad to find her tweeting. She informed me that she retrieved all the prints two days before the bombing happened. Thank God! It must’ve been painful for her to see what has become of her former exhibition site.

Last night I went home from all the crazy concert only to find this. I thought about my parents but was relieved when my sister said they were okay. I was hungry for more news but somehow I got too tired. I went to bed.

This morning my Mom texted me, she asked if I heard about the news. The next few words left me weak and my eyes water. The morning the bomb went off, my Dad was scheduled to have a breakfast meeting at the Ritz-Carlton hotel. Somehow, it got canceled as he got a more important meeting to attend to.

The moment I heard the news, I thought of my Dad, he frequently has breakfast meetings at both hotels. Several times I went with him. I even had honeymoon in one of the hotels.

My thoughts and prayers go to my country, all the victims and families. Indonesia Unite!!

to Joey McIntyre who has been making the news with wife, expecting a second son, a brother for Griffin. And wrote on twitter “The Macs took all that aphrodisiac of the road and made a baby out there. All that screaming turned us on! 🙂 Thanks for all the well wishes”

Hayley Williams

July 13, 2009 6 comments

In case you’ve never heard, Hayley Williams is the lead vocalist for the band Paramore, who got their big break filling in soundtrack for Twilight the movie. Hayley only 20 years old, and she got a great voice for a girl singing in a rock band. Not to mention she’s pretty too. I’m green with envy.

She somewhat reminds me of Emma Roberts, I think their eyes are kinda alike. Hayley Williams though has proven herself that she got what it takes to be big. I love her vibrant red hair, which is her trademark and her pale orange lipstick here – you know I’m a make-up junkie.

Thursday I’ll be able to see this girl rock! Listen to Paramore.. they’ve got great tracks.. watch out for the volume, they’re kinda loud.

Rest In Peace, Michael..

July 6, 2009 4 comments

Starting today, July 7th will mark the funeral of the King of Pop. True or not, we have less than 24 hours to see. Some things are certain, both private and public memorial for Michael Jackson will be held later today.

June 25th 2009, the first time I was told that Michael Jackson was dead, I was very sure it was a hoax, while I googled “Michael Jackson” at the same time. When I saw wikipedia’s highlight “Michael Joseph Jackson (August 29, 1958 – June 25, 2009) was an American recording artist, entertainer and businessman.”, I was stunned.. “this is happening”.

For a day, though still in shock, I was calm. I was on the internet for hours, finding out what happened. CNN was on, I was starving for more news. I listened to Michael Jackson’s songs. I still could not believe it. I fell asleep thinking about we had lost a legend, I woke up to another thought of him being dead.

The next few days I was accompanied by unstoppable tears when everything started to sink in. I watched people’s tribute, including the Philippine inmates on youtube, New Kids on the Block tribute during their concerts and BET Awards tribute where Jamie Foxx and Ne-Yo sang “I’ll Be There”, more tears rolled down.

For 30 seconds I felt good when I read someone’s message “Michael Jackson is not dead, it’s just a stunt to promote his London gigs”. I wanted to believe it so bad that I did believe it. Then, I remember Jermaine Jackson’s speech where he said “My brother, the legendary King of Pop passed away..” the reality came back rushing in.

No words can describe our loss. Yet, we’re still trying to find the appropriate ones. The result is endless.

I am hoping that in less than 24 hours, Michael Jackson will finally be laid down to rest in peace. And we all will continue to celebrate his legacy. A tribute:

“All the songs you used to sing

The pretty world you pushed me in

The higher ground where I’m standing

I miss you, Michael..”

No Doubt

July 1, 2009 4 comments

I can’t listen to Michael Jackson anymore. This is a BS ’cause everytime I listen to anything else, I always end up going back to Jacko’s records – that make me miss him, mourn and weep.

I haven’t written anything yet about the loss, because it’s just indescribable. But I hope sooner than later I will.. and do a tribute for him as well.

So currently I am listening to No Doubt. I am buying a ticket for their concert in town but it’s still pending. I am crossing my fingers. It’s been awhile since I last went to a concert. And I’m dying to see fashion icon, Gwen Stefani, performing again. I saw her the first time as a Gwen Stefani alone, with Harajuku girls. Now it’s a whole different scene.. alternative and rock!!

Update: No Doubt, it’s on!!
