Metal Craft

I’ve been a little busy to post what I wear lately. Hopefully I’m back on it tomorrow.

Today I went to Stop and Shop in hopes of finding some vintage treasures. There were gorgeous ones unfortunately the price was too much for my wallet to handle. So I went home taking a cuff and two rings.

These metal crafts had my attention the moment I saw them. They came in many colors and shapes. As for the cuff, I’m a cuff lover and as a cuff lover I don’t think I have enough yet. So I grab the one with the shredded shape in gray. It’s so bold yet versatile as I tend to wear colorful clothes, and the color changes under different lightings. As for the rings, my camera doesn’t do justice. I grab one in copper and one in turqoise. I’m planning to excessories them.

Check out their website BPA metal craft.

That’s what I’ll be doing Tuesday November 18th. I can’t believe myself how I fell for it. I didn’t have any intention to go, but then I saw these tickets online and I just grabbed them. Now I’m glad I did.

I never had the chance to see them, and I was a big fan of them. They reunited and apparently I still like them (Jordan and Joey are hot.. lol). So I go for many reasons, from liking the songs to nostalgic. They will be singing old songs, which to my surprise, I still remember the lyrics. Plus some solo’s from my favorite boys. And of course some songs from their new album, these ones would be a homework for me hehe.

It’s funny how I now get the chance to see my idols, 14 years later. Listening to the old songs, I can tell that Joey was a kid. His voice is very different now, it’s a lot more mature. And for that he gets more chance to sing the songs in the new album rather when he was still a kid. I am so looking forward to hear Joey sing “Please Don’t Go Girl”.

Ahh I wish I lived in Toronto. I could’ve worked for Toronto International Film Festival,or at least attend the fest.

I watched the news today and some familiar faces (thanks to big screen) appeared: Anne Hathaway, Sandra Oh, Rachel McAdams, Jennifer Aniston (oh how I heart her) and Kate Beckinsale.

Of course, they are not the only ones.. Gerard Depardieu, Alessandro Nivola, Rose McGowan, Kristin Scott Thomas, Jim Sturgess, Mark Ruffalo, Ethan Hawke, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Kevin Zegers, Benicio del Toro, Amanda Peet, Scott Speedman and many more.. Even Paris Hilton (surprisingly!!) and Amberley Thiessen (Canadian Idol top something) were there..

As a festival of glamor took place, attention went to the outfit of the ladies. Surely the men wore designers’ garment.. but since all men outfit look the same, there was no big deal about that.. Honestly, do you remember what Daniel Day-Lewis was wearing when he won the Oscar last year vs Halle Berry’s dress when she won 6 years ago? Men never have best suit while there’s always best dress for the ladies. Halle Berry was one of them. She wore gorgeous dress by Elie Saab.

Anywhoo, back to topic. This year, all eyes are on Rose McGowan’s shoes and Kate Beckinsale’s dress. I didn’t notice how short McGowan was (oh yeah I am not that tall either, lol) until I saw these shoes. Apparently she’s only 5′4″and with these heels I think she turned to 5′7″. Nice try..

As for Kate, she won the best dress chosen by the media. Look at this beautiful baby doll dress with a little frock.

See the cute details: Roses embroidery and big mirrored beads. Plus a pair of metallic pumps to complement the dress. Stunning!!

Guess who designed it? Elie Saab!! Yyyeeeapp, it’s the same designer that created 2002’s Oscar Winner’s dress. Saab is just waaaayy too brilliant..

Or should I say.. food festival?

The Fest contained 40 countries’ pavilions that served different varieties of national food and drinks. Me and my husband had been lurking on their website few days before that, researching and planning what we were going to eat there.

First thing first.. food tickets!! Or tokens as I call it.. Admissions were free, but tokening was the way to pay for food. Mr.Ragil bought the tokens at Save On Food just few days before the fest.

Weather hasn’t been so friendly the last couple of days. The shifting week from July to August has been cold and rainy. No storm, but windy. We planned to go on Saturday but the forecast wasn’t promising. So we called it off. Sunday was no different. It was warmer but worrisome. “We’ll go Monday”, Mr.Ragil said.

It’s a long weekend, Monday is Alberta Day, so Mr.Ragil got a day off from work. We left home 10:30, in the middle of my “Hogan Knows Best” reality show. But a good call, as we got to the parking lot of U of A, it was almost full. From there, we took a bus to William Hawrelak Park.

The bus dropped us right behind the Cambodian Site. We got a park map and started walking. I’d been daydreaming about Nasi Lemak that’s supposed to be available at the Malaysia-Singapore Site. I specifically wanted that for my breakfast. But, we found the site nowhere in sight. I was disappointed :(

On to the next food.. or site, lol. Poffertjes!! Yayyy.. Back to the days when we were still lurking, I set my eye on some sweet pancakes-like food: the Crepes (French) and Poffertjes (Dutch). But Mr.Ragil said, I had to choose.. So I chose poffertjes, ’cause I can eat Crepes in 2 months time :D

Poffertjes. Lekker!!

Next, Mr.Ragil wanted some Samosa from the Pakistan Site. But when we get there.. uh-oh, they scrape the Samosa text on the board. Mr.Ragil was disappointed, but he was hungry I could tell. So he got himself a Rice Pilao, Chicken Curry & Salad, which is curried chicken served with lightly spiced rice.

Rice Pilao, Chicken Curry and Salad. Very Good!!

From the Pakistan Site, we walked to find good food for me. I insisted to search the Singapore Site again. We did, but found nothing. Mr.Ragil sighed and said, “You’re not gonna find it!”. I think he was slightly annoyed too by how determined I was. I kept looking, traced the tents and finally found it waaaay on the back.

I was getting my nasi lemak! A bit disappointed because the menu says: coconut rice, vegetable spring rolls and curry chicken. Of course, I was thinking I would get the kind of nasi lemak they have back when I was in Malaysia: coconut rice, small fish, maybe a chicken and krupuks (crackers). I reminded myself again that once a food got to a different country, the taste changes.

Nasi Lemak. Delicious!!

In between our meals, there were performances from countries. We stopped and watched. Arabic stand had a good one. A play that taught people on morals to be humble. The Irish community showed 6 girls and a boy tapped dancing. And there was youth ballet from Russia.

Time to go home. Not really, we just felt full so there’s nothing else we felt like doing except hitting the pillow, lol. But we still had a couple tokens in hand. So I got myself an ice cream and iced tea (gee, I never imagine how much people here like sweet!). And we headed home..

Good day, good food.. Myself, my husband and my stomach were happy =D
